Your #1 holiday home in Vence, the Villa Fontaine Vieille, near Nice on the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur is surrounded by a large Mediterranean garden full of flowers, palm trees, cypresses and mimosas. The idyllically situated seats in the shady garden and the verandas invite you to read, stroll, discuss and meditate. The property is situated just outside the old town walls and is close to the historic old town of Vence. Shops, boutiques, street cafés and restaurants are within walking distance.
The oldest parts of the villa date from the middle of the 19th century. The old parts were tastefully incorporated into the renovated holiday apartments. The interior decoration is based on the Provence style of southern France. Depending on the orientation of the balconies and terraces of the apartments, one has panoramic views of the Baou Mountains, the Lubiane River, the Matisse Chapel and the picturesque old town of Vence.
All apartments have a covered fireplace with a fireplace and a summer outdoor kitchen. The covered outdoor kitchen is equipped with a pizza oven and barbecue, a large dining table with chairs, crockery etc. Loungers, resting places and parasols complete the varied offer.

All apartments have central heating and are also warm in winter. Join our regular guests and seasoned visitors, and experience the winter season in this wonderful area. Benefit from less tourists, empty beaches, relaxed places, many open cafe’s and restaurants.
There are a rich selection of shops for daily necessities in the historic, Provencal old town, which is a 2 minute walk away. There is a daily market on the Place du Grand Jardin. Several large supermarkets are a few minutes drive away.
Vence and Surroundings
The town of Vence and its equally well known neighbor Saint-Paul de Vence are situated in the charming hilly landscape north-west of Nice. The old town of Vence with spiralling houses, the partially preserved city wall, the castle and the former palace are well worth visiting. There is a rich selection of shops, restaurants and markets in the historic, Provencal old town. The Matisse chapel is a popular attraction. Vence has a reputation as an artist’s place, which gives the often peaceful, sometimes lively atmosphere a special flair – even in winter.
The beaches of Cagnes sur Mer, Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Theoule sur Mer, Cap Ferrat, Beaulieu sur Mer and others are within easy reach by car.
For nature lovers the diversity of the country around Vence offers very beautiful hiking routes. Located at 325 m above sea level and only a few kilometers from the almost 1000 m high Col de Vence mountain range on the St. Barnabe high plateau, the city is the starting point for many adventurous hikes.
Drive to the Col de Vence, to the St.Barnabe-High, into the Gorge du loup and into the mostly untouched countryside surrounding Vence, not to mention the Verdon gorge (Gorge du Verdon) and two of the most beautiful villages of France – Tourtel, as well as Gourdon.
The artists’ sites Saint Paul de Vence (Fondation Maeght), Antibes (with old town and port, Picasso museum, Cap d’Antibes), Vallauris (Picasso clay works), Haut de Cagnes (Renoir house) are worth a visit.
Visit the cities of Nice (Old Town, Matisse Museum, Promenade des Anglais), Cannes (Old Town, Croisette, Esterel Mountains, Iles de Lerins) and Monaco (Casino in Monte Carlo, Prince’s Palace). Even St.Tropez and Port Grimaud are only 1 1⁄2 drive away.
Perfume, violets and wine
The perfume town of Grasse should be on everyone’s itinery. On the way there is the romantic village of Tourrettes le Loup. Also the vineyards of Var are worth a trip.
